About The Artist

Hey hey!! Wut up!!

I’m MykNash — artist/musician shaped by punk rock, surf skate scene, and the colorful chaos of 80s & 90s subculture.

Born in Nashville TN, I always had a love for music and started my career early as a touring punk bass player. Over time my creativity shifted from sound to visual.

Finishing college with degrees in Mass Communication, Music Business, Entertainment Technology and Marketing, I entered the work force as a graphic designer.

Taking everything I learned from music and channeling it into a new form of expression, I started to explore abstract work, design and poster art.

Artists like Jim Phillips, VCJ, John Van Hamersveld, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Rick Griffin, and Drew Brophy, lit the path for me early on. Their boldness, repetition, and color taught me how to communicate without saying a word.

For a period of time, I was working in a traditional corporate environment before once again returning to the creative space. Originally drawn to the innovation NFTs offered, it’s the energy of the Web3 community that has kept me hooked. More recently in my art, I’ve been focusing on creating digital works, specifically frame by frame hand drawn animations.

Whether it’s on a wall, a screen or a stage, I’m just here to create and connect.

About The Art

MykNash creates what he calls slop pop – a playful, gritty mashup of punk rock attitude, 80’s & 90’s skate vibes and nostalgic joy. His work pulls from the same scenes that shaped him: garage bands, grainy skate videos, scratched up mixtapes and bold pop art.

At its core, his art is meant to feel inclusive. A place where people can smile, laugh, feel safe, and maybe remember something they didn’t even realize they forgot. Every loop, color choice, and squiggly line is a little love letter to community, chaos, and connection.

The Process

Everything MykNash makes is hand drawn directly on an iPad with programs like Procreate used for the final touches. He tries to keep it raw and minimal, so most of the loops come together in just a few frames.

“I like the challenge of creating an animation that looks as smooth as possible, while keeping it super stripped down.”

It’s kind of like trying to write a song in three chords – simple, but still hits.

Exhibitions

MykNash’s work has been featured in a wide range of exhibitions and shows, from his early days showcasing traditional paintings to more recent Web3 events.

Whatever the medium or setting, one thing has always remained the same – his love for connecting with people in real life. There’s something powerful about being able to look someone in the eye, share a laugh or give a big ol’ hug.
